After our waterfall hike by Nam Ngum Reservoir, our next stop on our Winter Break 2025-2026 tour of Laos was Vang Vieng (ວັງວຽງ). The many activities available in the immediate area kept us delightedly entertained for several days.
Rock Climbing
Our first night in Vang Vieng we got a taste of the lovely skies that we were going to enjoy for the duration of our visit.
Our first morning in Vang Vieng the kids and I went rock climbing with Adam’s Climbing School. My wife went cafe hopping. We all had a good time.
They started us off on their easiest wall to get a feel for climbing and the equipment. Not only were there lots of handholds, the entire wall was also semi enclosed and therefore shaded.
Both kids were quite proud of themselves after conquering the second wall.
The last wall was a bit sunnier and definitely more challenging.
After climbing all morning we enjoyed a relaxed afternoon. During our rooftop dinner, as we watched the balloons float overhead, we got excited for our own balloon ride the next day.
As the sun went down, the fireworks started.
The fireworks really got crazy at midnight. (Sorry no photos).
