Our third day in Chiang Mai we headed south towards Doi Inthanon.
Royal Park Rajapruek
Our first stop was Royal Park Rajapruek (อุทยานหลวงราชพฤกษ์). We rented bikes and enjoyed making our way through the assorted gardens.

Highlights included an orchid garden and a cactus garden.

Our daughter also enjoyed a decorate your own cocoa at a café on the grounds.

We took our lunch at Nic’s Restaurant & Playground. The menu was diverse as were the play options for younger children. My Burmese tea leaf salad was delicious.

Mae Wang National Park
From Nic’s we made our way to Mae Wang National Park (อุทยานแห่งชาติแม่วาง). We focused this visit on the Pha Chor (ผาช่อ) cliffs and nature trail. The cliffs were different than others we have seen so far.

Pool
We wrapped up our day at the Elephant House and Pool Villas. The name is perhaps a bit misleading—there are no elephants, there is a single shared pool, and the villas are traditional Thai wooden houses—but the hosts were certainly welcoming and happy to share their knowledge of the area. The pool is a very nice 25m laned pool.
