Luang Prabang

Kuang Si Waterfall

Our first stop on our second full day was Kuang Si Waterfall (ນໍ້າຕົກຕາດກວາງຊີ).

On the path in to the waterfall there is a small bear rescue area for sun bears and moon bears rescued from illegal farms.

The waterfall was beautiful. The approach to the main falls was stunning all on its own.

And then the main falls . . . Wow!

Near the main falls were a set of stairs (542 steps) we hoped would take us to additional views of the falls.

No such luck. They took us to a cafe which offers lovely views of the valley, but not of the falls.

For an extra $30/person you can take a set of zip lines back down to the bottom and get two aerial views of the falls on the way. Our kids opted for this extra experience using Christmas money. The safety on these lines was much better than what we had experienced in Vang Vieng.

While waiting for our kids, we continued enjoying the lesser falls.

Laos Buffalo Dairy

On our way back to town we stopped at the Laos Buffalo Dairy. While my son and I sampled the many cheeses, ice creams, and drinks on offer (if you go you must try the fried mozzarella), my wife and daughter toured the dairy.

Thanks for sharing your adventures with us. It is wonderful to see all these places most of us will never go.
