Ko Tao

While the best part of our 2025 October break was family visiting, one highlight of their visit was our time together in Ko Tao (เกาะเต่า).

We travelled down on the night train. Rather than getting off at the closer train station in Chumpon (ชุมพร) for the shorter ferry ride, we travelled all the way down to Surat Thani (สุราษฎร์ธานี), to get a full night’s sleep, before traveling back north to the island. When we came down with other family in April we’d gotten off in Chumpon, only to wait for the ferry, then wait for our hotel to let us check in.

We stayed in one of the Cape Shark Villas. Where a short but steep walk took us down to Shark Bay where a few of us fittingly saw sharks. We also enjoyed stand up paddle boarding and looking at the tropical fish and coral.

We also enjoyed just hanging out and enjoying the view from our pool, deck, and gazebo.

One afternoon we travelled to Ao Leuk (อ่าวลึก). The gentler approach into the water made it easier for everyone to enjoy snorkeling. We even saw a few sea turtles!
