Ko Samui

After leaving Ao Nang, we travelled to Ko Samui (เกาะสมุย).

In Samui we enjoyed our connected rooms at Ibis Samui and relaxed mornings at the hotel pool,

lunch dates (Smile House Restaurant pictured),

and fun afternoon activities. We enjoyed a game of miniature golf (our enjoyment was greatly facilitated by the proprietor’s bug spray). Minigolf International included a beverage with our game.

Another afternoon we played a round of Footgolf. Samui Football Golf not only provided a beverage and mosquito repellent with each game, but also wet cloths to wipe our faces with. The game play was that of mini golf, but the ball and method of striking it were those of soccer.

Our last full day in Samui we spent onboard the Chantara. The crew was friendly. Snacks, water, soft drinks, and a meal were provided. Towels and motion sickness medication were also available.

The trip included my favorite snorkeling of our Winter Break.

Jumping off the Chantara into the water was also a lot of fun.

While it was the highest priced outing of our trip, given the duration, the food, the snorkeling, and the overall experience, we felt the pricing was quite fair.

FYI:

  • Smoking was permitted onboard.
  • The boat did not rely on its sail for propulsion.

Wrapping up our stay on Ko Samui we stopped on the way to the ferry for a great meal at Mimosa.

Snorkeling above a coral reef – the many kinds of fish – the different kinds of coral – the vivid colors – a great short video! Truly an exciting and educational outing for the family.
