Seeing Komodo National Park requires a boat. We opted to spend 3 days and 2 nights aboard the Fadaelo booked via Travass. One of the perks of our boat selection was a photographer to help document the trip.

Our first day started well. We got on board and then saw dolphins before even leaving the port.

En route to our first stop we had a snack and enjoyed being aboard.

The opening event of the trip was a series of snorkeling opportunities in the vicinity of Pulau Siaba Besar.
Snorkeling with Turtles
They took us in the ship’s boat to right above an area with turtles. As soon as we were in the water, we started seeing them.
Snorkeling with Manta Rays
Then it was another quick ride and we were snorkeling with Manta Rays. It is very difficult to communicate the size of these with the photos I have. They were HUGE!
Drift Snorkeling
Then we were transported to a place where we were set down in a current and could just float our way through a beautiful world of fish and coral.
The Sandbar
After lunch we played on a sandbar and waded far out into the ocean.
Padar Hike
We wrapped up the day with a hike on Padar to watch the sunset.
And as the sky went dark, we made our way to Komodo Island, so we could see the Komodo dragons while they were still active in the morning.
