Day of Discovery

A few weekends ago we spent our Saturday in and around Suan Rot Fai (สวนรถไฟ i.e. สวนวชิรเบญจทัศ). Within Suan Rot Fai itself we enjoyed riding bikes we rented there; playing on the fitness equipment;

visiting the Bangkok Butterfly Garden and Insectarium (อุทยานผีเสื้อและแมลง กรุงเทพฯ) where highlights included caterpillars matched with chrysalides, beautiful flowers, and getting to hold a big moth;

and riding around in the White Road Theme Park (โครงการถนนสีขาว) complete with roundabouts and operational traffic lights.

We also traveled through the adjacent Queen Sirikit Park (สวนสมเด็จพระนางเจ้าสิริกิติ์ฯ) to get to the Children’s Discovery Museum (พิพิธภัณฑ์เด็กกรุงเทพมหานครจตุจักร) where we enjoyed a 4D movie, a very fun playground, making a Thai dessert, and building our own city (among many other activities).

Other than the Bike rentals (approximately $1 per bike for the day), all of these activities were free. A passport was required for admission to the children’s museum.

    What an educational and fun day! Just curious what is the 4th dimension in a 4D movie?

      Things in the theatre rather than on the screen (e.g. bubbles, wind, seat vibration).

    Looks like you had another fun day. Never saw a moth as big and beautiful as the one in the photo. We just learned about 4D movies when a new theater opened near us. We still haven’t seen any films there as of yet.
