Tirta Gangga

On our way from the Amed area back towards the airport, we stopped at Tirta Gangga, a water palace built in 1946 by the last Raja of the region. The original palace was largely destroyed by a volcanic eruption in 1963. The current Tirta Gangga is a rebuild according to original plans fed by the same natural springs, led in part by the Raja’s dependents.

Tirta Gangga was a good stop for both the adults and the kids. Our kids enjoyed feeding the fish in all the ponds, and we enjoyed the beauty of the place.

There is something fishy about this place. It is amazing that someone would build such a beautiful place and after the destruction, build it again. That’s a great commitment.

The Water Garden and fishery seem an ideal sanctuary for beaty and tranquility. Although it obviously holds many challenges for the physically handicapped, unfortunately.
