We celebrated Thai Mother’s Day with a trip to Cha-am.
Love Bread
A highlight of our visit was our discovery of Love Bread. We ate breakfast there our first morning and enjoyed it so much we went back the next day to try more things on the menu.

All the meat pies, croissants, tarts, and cakes we tried from the display case were delicious and reasonably priced. Tracey enjoyed different coffee drinks both mornings. The menu items we ordered tasted great as well.
Quite close to Love Bread were two other stops we all enjoyed: the Mangrove Forest Park and Mrigadayavan Palace.
Mangrove Forest Park
The Mangrove Forest Park (สวนป่าชายเลนทูลกระหม่อม) had a parking area with a pretty view of the sea.
Heading inland, there was a boardwalk (showing its age in places) through a mangrove forest.

Along the walk we spotted wildlife (a highlight were the mudskippers).
There were also suspension bridges and a viewing tower.
There were even some fun extras—playful photo opportunities, models of the park, and signs in Thai and English to better understand the park and the life in it.
Mrigadayavan Palace
Essentially adjacent to the Mangrove Forest Park, was Mrigadayavan Palace (พระราชนิเวศน์มฤคทายวัน) a beach residence of Rama VI. The architect did a wonderful job maximizing breeze and minimizing sun while taking advantage of the beach setting.

Our Own Palace
In addition to these outings, we also enjoyed just hanging out at our hotel (The Regent Cha-Am Beach Resort).
