Our first morning on Koh Chang (เกาะช้าง) we started with an early breakfast by the ocean before diving into our day.

Our first day we packed pretty full. We went to Khlong Phlu Waterfall (น้ำตกคลองพลู), had lunch at Khao Kwan (ข้าวขวัญ), and wrapped up the day’s activities at Klong Son Elephant Camp (แคมป์ช้างคลองสน) (also called Ban Kwan Chang Elephant Camp some places).
Khlong Phlu Waterfall
We got to Khlong Phlu Waterfall right at opening time, so there were still spots in the parking lot and the weather was not yet too hot.
Despite some water on the path and a some uneven footing we enjoyed our stream side walk to the waterfall.
The waterfall itself was even better.
Not only was it pretty to look at, some friends showed up and we had fun jumping in with them.
Khao Kwan
After the waterfall, we went to Khao Khwan for lunch. Wow! Top notch food. The presentation was stunning. The tastes were delightful.
The chicken larb bites were my favorite.
Klong Son Elephant Camp
While on Elephant Island, we went to Klong Son Elephant Camp. The camp was a low-key place out in the jungle. Unlike some captive elephants, those at Klong Son were not visibly distressed. The handler of the one we rode, clearly cared for his animal.
