Journey to Khao Sok

We left Bangkok on the night train. Due to the busy season, we did not get an air conditioned car. Fortunately, the weather was cooler. While noisy and bright, the ride went well.

King Car Rent met us at the train station with our rental car.

After a great breakfast across the street from the station at A KWAN COFFEE, we headed to ป่าต้นน้ำบ้านน้ำราด (Forest Upstream of Pouring Water Village). It was a pretty place to break up our trip to Khao Sok National Park.

We checked into a hotel (Rai Eingpu) with a nice family room near Ratchaprabha Dam (เขื่อนรัชชประภา). We enjoyed the setting of our dinner at Riverside White House across from our hotel more than we enjoyed the meal itself.

After dinner we enjoyed the sunset from the Chiew Larn Lake View Point.

There is so much variety in the plant life and every thing is so green. Is that typical throughout Thailand? What is the average rainfall? Is the rainfall spread throughout the year or seasonal. Enquiring minds want to know! I can’t wait to visit!

Where there is plant life, there is variety and it is green. In Bangkok there is something of a plant deficit. Rainfall varies throughout the country. Most of the country has three main seasons: we finished rainy season in the October/November time frame. We’re in “cool season”. We have yet to encounter hot season.
